Make 2025 the year you invest in yourself and your own happiness

If your New Year’s resolutions to lose weight, hit the gym or learn Japanese have come unstuck before January is quite over, you’re certainly not alone. But there could be any number of reasons why you’re flagging. It could be that your goals are too broad – you may have pledged, for example, to ‘write a novel’ but perhaps ‘complete the first six chapters by April would be more realistic and specific.

Equally, some of these resolutions, e.g. to eat or drink less or get fit, can almost seem quite harsh or self-punishing. So maybe you’d do better if you thought in terms of investing in yourself to improve your life. In other words, an ethos of reward rather than punishment.

If you’re not quite sure of the best way to do this, a wellbeing coach could be ideally placed to help. The role of these professionals is to make you more able to manage your own motivation and commitment to lifestyle change. They will work with you to set uniquely individual, realistic goals. And this could be just what you need to avoid falling into the trap of making vague, unachievable pledges.

Not only that but together you’ll develop a plan for meeting those goals. Plus you’ll build confidence in your ability to control your health and life more generally. You and your coach will look at a large number of physical health areas, from diet and exercise to weight management. Equally, both of you will look at elements of your mental health, including stress and anxiety, or any particular personal challenges you may be going through, such as a bereavement, divorce or separation. If you’ve been struggling with sleep, or facing particular issues at work, they can discuss that with you as well.

So after a programme of coaching, you should feel happier and healthier in all areas of your life and have a clearer idea of how to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose, plus a feeling of being in control of your life and your own happiness wellbeing.

Make your dream car a reality

As we said, rewards can be very powerful. So if you reckon you deserve a reward, whatever the reason, think about how you could make that a reality. If you’ve always dreamt of owning a Porsche, for example, it may be more achievable than you realised.

Frankly, we wouldn’t blame you if it was your dream. After all, these iconic, high-performance sports cars offer a fast and powerful yet smooth drive with precision handling. Plus they’re renowned for their dependability and quality.

If you’ve always wanted to be in a plush leather seat behind the wheel of one of these models, think about how you could turn that dream into reality. It may be more doable than you realised. With used Porsche finance, for example, you could be on the road to this faster than you think.

Potential options include lease purchase arrangements, hire purchase and personal contract purchase (PCP). Stop dreaming and start driving!
