Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: Top Five Unique Weapons
Welcome back to another top five list for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring. This time around, we’re diving into my top five favorite unique weapons introduced in the expansion. These Elden Ring Items weapons are notable for their incredibly dynamic Ashes of War, unique effects in battle, and impressive damage potential. They also feature split scaling, sometimes requiring investment in up to four different stats, making them perfect for builds centered around their unique attributes. Spoilers ahead, so let’s jump right in.
Velvet Sword of Saint Trina
First up is the Velvet Sword of Saint Trina, boasting a respectable 601 attack power. While it may not seem too different from the regular Saint Trina’s Sword at first glance, the Velvet Sword stands out due to its Ash of War: Mist of Eternal Sleep. This unique ability enchants both your main hand and offhand weapons with sleep, a status effect particularly potent in PvP scenarios.
Dual-wielding enthusiasts will appreciate the convenience of enchanting both weapons with a single Ash of War. Although sleep is less effective against many enemies in PvE due to immunities, it shines in PvP, where putting an opponent to sleep allows for a devastating follow-up attack. The Velvet Sword encourages creative build strategies, especially when paired with diverse weapon types, including colossal weapons for an unpredictable moveset.
Sword of Darkness
Next, we have the Sword of Darkness, a straight sword with 705 AR and CDD scaling. This weapon deals significant holy damage, and its Ash of War: Darkness debuffs enemies, reducing their holy mitigation. This unique effect enhances your holy damage output, making it a valuable addition to any Faith-based build.
The Darkness Ash of War features an initial popup that interrupts enemies, followed by a wide-ranging darkness attack. This two-phase strike can disrupt enemy attacks and deal substantial damage, making it a versatile and flashy weapon. The ability to debuff enemies and enhance holy damage opens up opportunities for powerful spell follow-ups, solidifying its place as a unique and effective weapon in both PvE and PvP.
Lita’s Sword
Our third weapon is Lita’s Sword, a light greatsword belonging to a new weapon archetype. This weapon’s moveset is incredibly smooth and mobile, featuring spinning attacks that look and feel great in combat. Its Ash of War, Needle Piercer, is particularly useful in PvP, as it removes all negative and positive effects from enemies.
While Needle Piercer does decent damage in PvE, its true strength lies in PvP scenarios. It counters heavily buffed opponents by stripping away their enhancements, leveling the playing field. The animation duration matches the time it takes for enemies to apply buffs, allowing you to disrupt their preparations effectively. Lita’s Sword, with its solid base moveset and impressive attack power, is a versatile choice for any dexterity-focused build.
Forlana’s Twin Blade
Forlana’s Twin Blade is one of my personal favorites from the DLC. This weapon features split scaling across physical, magic, and fire damage with CCCC scaling, reaching an impressive 992 Armament power. It also comes with a built-in dual-wield moveset, making it a joy to use in combat.
The standout feature of Forlana’s Twin Blade is its Ash of War: Moon and Fire Stance. This Ash of War has two parts: an initial beam attack reminiscent of a mini Moonveil, followed by a devastating fire stance that creates fire tornadoes and pillars. This combination makes it effective against both crowds and bosses, allowing you to build an entire strategy around this weapon.
The Moon and Fire Stance’s triple spin attack can deal massive damage, especially against larger targets. Forlana’s Twin Blade excels in both PvE and PvP, offering a well-rounded and highly effective option for players looking to dominate the battlefield.
Euphoria
Last but certainly not least is Euphoria, a weapon I discovered after my initial playthrough, thanks to a tip from Ororo. Euphoria features DDB scaling with an attack power of 798 and is primarily a Faith weapon. However, its unique mechanics make it a potential centerpiece for various build types.
Euphoria’s blades are tinged with black, a nod to its origins as a cut weapon originally intended to be the Twin Blade of Abundance. As you attack with Euphoria, it charges up through different levels. At level one, the Ash of War shoots off small laser blasts, while at level two, it unleashes a holy version of Comet Azure, dealing incredible damage.
The charging mechanic is unique, and no other weapon in Elden Ring offers a similar feature. When fully charged, Euphoria’s Ash of War can deal up to 7,000 damage with a holy Comet Azure, making it a formidable weapon against any foe. Its ability to switch between different Ash of War effects based on charge level adds a layer of strategy and versatility, ensuring it stands out as one of the most powerful and unique weapons in the game.
Conclusion
These five unique weapons from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC each bring something special to the table, whether it’s the dual enchantment capability of the Velvet Sword of Saint Trina, the holy debuffing power of the Sword of Darkness, the buff-stripping prowess of Lita’s Sword, the devastating combo potential of Forlana’s Twin Blade, or the charging mechanics of Euphoria. Each weapon offers a distinct playstyle and strategic advantage, making them worthy additions to any player’s arsenal.
